Hola Food obtains ISO 50.001 certification in energy efficiency

This accreditation enables the company to optimize its energy consumption, improve its efficiency, and reduce operating costs.

The Hola Food meat processing center, part of the Copese Food Group, has obtained ISO 50.001 certification, an international standard that recognizes responsible and efficient energy use. To achieve this certification, Hola Food has implemented an Energy Management System that allows it to accurately control its consumption and commit to an annual reduction in energy expenditure through investments and actions aimed at energy efficiency. Thanks to this certification, the meat processing center has greater control over its energy consumption and can objectively assess whether the sustainability measures implemented are delivering the expected results. Alberto Turiel, project manager at Grupo Alimentario Copese, explained that among the actions carried out, the installation of floating condensation in the plant's positive and negative cooling systems stands out. In addition, the next step will be the implementation of piped gas, with the aim of eliminating the unloading and transport of liquefied natural gas (LNG) by road. “Looking ahead, we plan to insulate the boiler room and install heat recovery systems,” says Turiel. However, Hola Food is currently focusing its efforts on maintaining certification and expanding energy control points. “When we started, we only had one electricity meter and one gas meter; now we have installed nine meters throughout the factory to divide consumption into sectors, although there are still areas that need to be monitored,” he concludes.
